PROFILES
At the Lyson website www.lyson.com, generic profiles can be downloaded to suite the Lyson inks and media chosen.
These profiles suite many people and allow the printing of their images without any further profiling.
However, no two printers are the same.They can vary in their colour and density rendering characteristics and produce prints with their own particular bias and curve. If this does occur , then to avoid the need to alter each image , a custom profile is recommended for your printer allowing it to become a calibrated accurate RGB colour device.

Inks:

FOTONIC
Designed for printing photo-realistic images with subtle details and extreme colours , Fotonic ink ensures the full range of scanned colours can be reproduced through your printer. The Fotonic Colour Gamut is 20% wider than most other inks in the yellow, green, pink and blue areas. combined with high light stability, Fotonic provides a perfect balance between colour and archival requirements.

PHOTOCHROME
PhotoChrome provides a unique alternative to Epson's pigmented Ultrachrome ink set for the Epson 2100/2200/7600/9600 and 10600. This seven colour ink set features a new light black ink for enhanced neutral greyscale reproduction and an enhanced colour gamut in comparison to the OEM inks. Whilst the Colour gamut of pigmented inks is not as great as the dye based Fotonic, PhotoChrome offers an excellent compromise if maximum light stability is required.

SMALL GAMUT
Small Gamut inks are actually colour inks but the size of the gamut or colour range, is dramatically smaller than that of a full colour ink set such as the standard inks from Epson,Lyson etc. Black and White printing using full colour inks is virtually impossible because the printer has to make up a neutral grey from a perfect balance of cyan, magenta and yellow. This perfect balance is extremely hard to achieve, resulting in colour shifts across the grey scale spectrum. Small Gamut inks enable black and white images to be printed without these colour shifts. The base colours in a small gamut set are far less vivid than their full colour equivalents. This means that when these colours combine, a monochrome effect is easily achieved. Small Gamut allows users to apply stunning tonal gradations to individual print areas or to combine limitless colour variations.

NEUTRAL QUAD BLACK
Using a four or six colour ink jet printer, Quad Black Neutral Tone inks can produce stunning monochrome images, whilst retaining the maximum detail in mid-tone, shadow, and highlight areas of the original image. The Quad Black process uses four or six intensities of black ink in place of the normal CMYK, Dc,DM colour cartridges, eliminating colour casts often associated with monochrome images produced using colour ink sets.
Quad Black prints on Lyson Fine Art Media have an independently certified indoor display life of over one hundred years when printed onto Lyson Standard Fine Art Paper.
