	Pyro PMK The Pyro Developing System
	Pyrogallol is a colouring developer substance. Proportional to the amount of reduced silver a yellowish-green stained image emerges which covers (masks) the grain and increases the print density as well. For alternative processes - like platinum printing - which are exposed to light containing a large amount of UV-rays- the stained image enhances the contrast. This is one of the reasons practising alternative photographers use Pyrogallol (PMK) as a developer. This way you can have the best of both worlds: a 13x18cm negative you can easily produce enlargements or contact prints from and you can also make excellent platinum prints. Thus the complicated production of special high contrast negatives becomes unnecessary. But Pyrogallol has even further attractive qualities: Pyro-negatives show very fine and distinct differences in the tonal range. This is especially important when photographing in opposite light. The lights are very differentiated, the shadows show a lot of detail and medium tones are clearly visible.

	Bergger / Formulary Pre Mixed Pyro to Gordon Hutchings Formula A concentrated film developer based upon Pyrogallol, metol and sodium metaborate. The PMK formula was developed by Gordon Hutchings, and is designed as a universal developer for a wide variety of modern emulsions used under diverse conditions. The PMK formula consists of two stock solutions. The A stock is the developer agent and the B stock is the alkali, or accelerator. Our stock solution dilutes to make 50 liters of working solution.
