Cambo | Actus Series

The Cambo Actus G series is the most compact, lightweight and versatile system whatever your Digital system might be.
With the larger diameter front aperture of MF digital cameras, the Actus G accepts all cameras that the little Actus B cannot.
DSLR cameras can also be used via an adapter (AC 78E).

Medium format stand-alone digital backs work seamlessly on this system simply by changing the Bellows and rear standard.
With the introduction of rotating digital adapters for the Medium Format Digital Backs like the Hasselblad CFV100c, a selection of rear frames for MFDB’s can be used and require only a small additional spacer for perfect alignment of sensor to lens.

Cambo offer the Actus G 991D and 990D for Hasselblad CFV100c and Phase One with the alignment spacer already added and as complete camera ready to go – with bellows and rotating digital back adapter. However – when converting your existing Actus G for use with a MFDB – the spacer should be used. (the difference could be corrected by using rising front but it would lessen the amount available for camera movements.)

When the spacer is used on the front standard to align with medium format digital backs- alternative rear adapters (for Hasselblad X or Fuji GFX for example) should be selected from the MV range to continue with the correct alignment.

The Classic Actus DB also accepts all medium format digital backs but will not enjoy the same interchangeability on the rear to other Mirrorless cameras as the rear standard of the Actus DB is fixed. Therefore, also the rotating digital adapters for MFDB’s cannot be used.

Alternatively, for full versatility with full movements on both standards – the Actus MV offers the photographer full movement control whilst retaining the interchangeability the Actus series is known for.

The Cambo Actus MV is the newest addition to the Actus series. It has been designed to offer full movements for studio use whilst still taking consideration location and retaining full interchangeability on the front and rear for different lenses and Digital Cameras or Digital Backs.

It is supplied as standard without a front lens plate and without the camera back fitting. This, you choose separately depending on your requirements although some kits are available for the usual choices. This camera can be configured for Medium format Digital Backs, Medium Format Mirrorless as well as smaller format camera bodies.
When being used with MF Digital Backs - Cambo have also introduced a new rotating digital adapter. This is a complete 'slot on the rear' digital adapter plate for the Actus MV and G series only. It is not compatible with the Actus DB. It allows you to rotate the digital back from horizontal to vertical without the need to remove it from the camera. Please note: when using the Rotating Digital Adapter Plates for MFDB’s on an Actus G Camera - a small additional spacer for perfect alignment of sensor to lens is required. When the spacer is used on the front standard to align with medium format Digital Backs- alternative rear adapters (for Hasselblad X or Fuji GFX for example) should be selected from the MV range to continue with the correct alignment.

The CAMBO ACUTS MV is a solid foundation in which all camera movements are integrated. For location, front and rear standards can be separated from the optical bench without requiring tools.

The rear standard can be completed with a choice of adapters for virtually every digital back available. To enable the use of a camera body as your digital back, Cambo offers bayonets for most MFDB’s, DSLR and Mirrorless cameras on the market.

At the front standard the Actus-MV accepts all lens plates from the vast Actus range. Including medium format adapters, lens plates for X-Shutter lenses and (legacy) leaf shutter lenses. Furthermore, Cambo offer the steadily expanding range of Actar lenses.

The ACTUS B MINI is suitable for smaller Mirrorless and DSLR cameras and accepts the same ACTUS front lens adapters. It cannot accept cameras like the Fuji GFX and Hasselblad XCD with larger diameter body mounts. The ACTUS B can be converted to an ACTUS G as is the philosophy of the Cambo Actus System – but if purchasing an Actus for the 1st time – thought should be given to the ease of interchangeability of the Actus B system.

The ACTUS DB (Digital Back) is only configured for a Medium Format Digital Back and the rear standard cannot be changed. (Digital adapter plates from the WRS system are used and are interchangeable for different MFDB fittings. With the introduction of the Actus MV Rotating rear digital back adapter for MFDB – this cannot be used on the ACTUS DB – it is only for the ACTUS G & MV series.

The ACTUS XL - ( Technical and DB versions) are derived from the Cambo Ultima camera system. It also only accepts digital adapter plates from the WRS system and cannot accept the rotating rear adapter for medium format digital backs. Conversions for Cambo Ultima camera to the XL are available. The Cambo Ultima is also available and is the only 5x4 camera offered by Cambo .
